Board of Trustees
The Cushman School’s Board of Trustees is a highly valuable, working board, which performs diligently through volunteerism of time, talent and treasures. As with all high functioning independent school boards, its role, while communicating under one voice, is to hire the Head of School and ensure the School’s sustainability through fiduciary responsibility while upholding the School’s mission and philosophy.
Every five years, our Board engages in developing a 3-5 year strategic plan that encompasses a master property plan as well as overarching programming, marketing and branding, and financial plans. The development of these plans reflects the analysis of data from a variety of constituencies, surveys, and critical discussions. The Board Strategic Planning Committee, under the leadership of George Lindemann and with my facilitation, has begun this process, and we look forward to your becoming engaged in this process as well.
While I have been serving Cushman in multiple capacities for over 33 years, during my Headship, I have been fortunate to have had a highly effective Board that has been at the forefront of all of our School’s growth and financial endeavors. From approving the purchase of many parcels within our master property plan, to the oversight of building projects such as Play to Learn and Cushman High School, to the financial contributions that have led the way in all of our School’s campaigns, Cushman’s Board is very special and one for which I am so proud to work.
Thank you to our Board leadership: Board Chair, Sara Colombo; Vice Chairs, Doug Jones and Lina Eusse Feliz; Treasurer, Kim Kovel; and Secretary, George Lindemann. Additionally, Stuart Kalb, Ali Matlick, Matthew Beatty, Christopher Bruan, Mark Ingraham, Lucia Penrod, Michael Sastre and Stephen Schott selflessly serve on the Board. I’m grateful to all Board members for their on-going, unwavering commitment to our School, and most importantly, for their commitment to your children. Each of these volunteers has put your children at the center of each discussion and has beautifully upheld each of his or her responsibilities.
